Time Flies When You’re Having Fun…..
It’s hard to believe that AJM Real Estate Services was started 20 years ago!! Where has the time gone? After working in the property and facilities management field for over 15 years, I decided it was time to start my own company. Starting with a few clients as a part time business operating from home, the company has continually grown to currently manage over 1,000 units in rentals, condominiums and retail spaces. Our staff is now 2 part-time and 3 full-time employees.
What other things happened in 1995? EBay and Amazon started and the DVD was announced. Toy Story was released as the first wholly computer generated film. Mariah Carrey and TLC topped the music charts. Judge Judy first appeared on television.
What things have changed in property management in 20 years? We no longer use pagers to respond to emergencies, the accounting process is completely automated – typing every bill and writing every check by hand a thing of the past and no one was using email in 1995! The fastest way to communicate was by phone or fax.
What things would I have done differently? Other than naming my son something other than Tony to avoid the daily “which Tony do you want to speak to?” there is nothing I would change.
I’m proud of the accomplishments and the many wonderful people I’ve met over the past 20 years. I want to thank all family, friends, employees, clients and vendors for their support and loyalty to AJM. I like to think that our success is due to our honesty, integrity and the personalized experience each owner, tenant or vendor receives. This is shown by the number of referrals we get. Twenty years is a milestone and I’m excited to see what the future has in store for AJM Real Estate Services.
